ArtPrize Entry: Beerhorst Wonder Wagon

On a beautiful late-summer Michigan afternoon, I wandered over to the Beerhorst family house for one of their infamous art shows. Upon arrival, one would normally be drawn straight up the stairs of the front porch and directly into the foyer of their century old home. However, I was immediately pulled to the driveway to study the family’s ArtPrize entry (or part of it)—the Wonder Wagon.

The Wonder Wagon is a built-from-scratch, wooden wagon covered in strategically-placed trinkets. The Beerhorst family will use the Wagon as a centerpiece for a Gypsyesque encampment near the river, where they will host musicians and lead arts and crafts workshops (schedules below).

The Wonder Wagon will travel through Uptown while on its way to its home at Fulton and the Grand River (in front of Fed-Ex Kinkos). It will leave the family’s home around 3:30 pm, and everybody is invited to join in the processional down to the river. Gypsy attire is encouraged, but not required.
