Art Prize Kick off!

Excitement is in the air as folks line the streets of Grand Rapids to see ArtPrize entries! These city streets are magical with the art, people, and sounds all around. I thought this would be a good time to put up a few links to make it easier for our readers to get around Grand Rapids.

First, make sure your registered to vote. You can register at 14 different locations throughout the city. This is essential to the prize! Make your voice heard! They have an iphone application, text message, and online options. The instructions are simple but make sure to ask when you register if you have any questions.

Second, does parking and traffic have you thinking twice? ArtPrize has some awesome options for getting around this fine city! For a mere $15 you can ride in the comfort and safety of the ArtPrize shuttle.  The wristband will also allow you to ride the Rapid free, into Grand Rapids from select Meijer locations. This will provide you with worry free travels around the city (and give you more time to look at art!). You will also find this option nice because children that accompany adults with wristbands will also ride free, read the blog post What about the Children? for more information.

I must mention that if you are brave enough to navigate the traffic, there are several lots available for a fee, and there are still some lots that give you one hour free. Check out this great link from the City of Grand Rapids for more information. That link will give you all the best ideas for parking. If you opt for driving down yourself, be sure to print yourself a map  to take along with you. Print both Artprize map #1 and ArtPrize Map #2 . These maps  include a complete listing of the venues and more information about the shuttle. Be sure to ask a red shirt volunteer if you have questions (red shirts that read “ask me”, now that’s convenient!)

Third, you can follow along with the voting, in real-time on the ArtPrize website. This is a fun way to keep track of your favorite artists!

All the participating artists have brought their best to Grand Rapids, so now is your chance to get out and explore! Enjoy your time in the city and Happy Voting!

Be sure to leave a comment if you have a question or a tip to navigating ArtPrize.

All the best,

Amy
