ArtPrize Entry: We’re All Connected 2.0

As I was picking up my new fixie at Commute Bike Shop, I noticed this upcoming entry to ArtPrize and snapped a few pics. Personally, I can’t wait to explore all that South Division has to offer during the 16 days of the contest. I just have this feeling that it will be one of the few places where artists can get away with experimentation and push boundaries. Sometimes I imagine it’ll be like walking through Main Street in the wild wild west.

The Artist is Erwin Erkfitz and the description of his work states that he “has transformed the building facades of South Division Avenue from Cherry to Williams St. The mural includes aerosol stencils, brush paint, screen prints, wheat pastes & sculptural elements.”

Here is the Work Statement from the ArtPrize Artist Profile:

Community activism and volunteering have been somewhat of a theme in Erkfitz’s life as an artist.

This is especially evident in his Art Prize mural; We’re All Connected 2.0. This mural will connect the community within the Heartside district of GR and the hearts of the creative culture of the world.

High contrast images are the usual result of Erkfitz’s hand. From playful accounts of environmental situations to more direct political and societal accounts these experimental prints are always impact filled.
