Very near the the Jelly Bean at the corner of College and Cherry, another ArtPrize entry has sprung up. ”Flower Bouquets” by Deb and Rick Moore is located at WOOD TV’s studios on College Ave just north of Cherry Street. As always, I highly recommend you get out of your car and get up close and personal with these giant metal flora. The whimsical shapes and brilliant colors combine to make this entry just plain fun. While I was there capturing a few images, WOOD was attempting to place lighting on the artwork which I can’t wait to check out tonight.
With over 1260 pieces of art eventually destined for Grand Rapids, I highly recommend you get started viewing some of these wonderful works being installed early. Deb and Rick Moore are from Newaygo, Michigan.
Here are the Description and Work Statement from the ArtPrize website:
Description of work: The flower bouquets will consist of a variety of flowers arranging from Lily’s, Black Eyed Susans, Roses, Daisy’s and possibly even Cattails. The flowers will be both large (at least 9 feet tall) and then small (at least 4 feet tall)

They are made from 22 gauge steel they are all hand shaped and welded then painted… We will be combing a variety of the flowers to make a beautiful bouquets or arrangements of flowers that will last for a long time and they make a beautiful statement in the wintertime.

I’m wondering if they have a website where I can buy some of these flowers?
